Imaginary Nostalgia

Remember those Coffehouse Commie balloons? Man, back in the 50s, it was like every kid had one of those! They were big, I tell yah!
But as with all fads, the craze subsided, and the company Marxup, was stuck with a warehouse full of the things. Eventually the company (then known as Wack-Co) reintroduced the item in the 70s as Fathead Freddie, a "russian roullete" kind of trivia game; It came with a set of cards with trivia questions and a hand pump (an "Ego Booster"). The Ego Booster was pumped every time a wrong answer was given (see, Freddie knew all the answers). The object was to not be the one pumping up the balloon when it popped. Wack-Co went belly-up when thousands of parents sued the company when their kids had nervous breakdowns.
I may have made some or all of that up.

Ran on down to the Cultural Center to get me some of that Culture stuff, and took some pics while I was at it.
