Wombat Prince

A special presentation from The Oddly-Shaped Head Players
This is an excerpt from their performance of Louisiana Williams' THE WOMBAT PRINCE, a story that takes place in the un-airconditioned world of the Great Depression. Smedly Arcola was content in his sweaty, brow mopping, stained under arm world, until a delicate, perfumed uppercrust woman entered his life, and for a breif moment, he forgot that he was a loser, and then she left, and then he remembered he was a loser, but forgot how to be content as a loser...

Gears in Groove

Thought I'd draw a robot today -- but ended up drawing a hippie -- hmmm well, maybe he's a robot hippie! Yeah that's it! This could be a contemplative scene at the end of Robot Hippie Meets The Creature From The Black Lagoon. Sounds good to me!

Laughter's Asylum

It's been said that laughter is the best medicine -- well, maybe it's not, if one is getting laughed AT. We'll I guess there is the consolation that one is making the world a healthier place for others...

Beat Cop

You probably don't remember BEATNIK WITH A BADGE. It wasn't on TV very long; It aired on the VoxNik Network in the early 60s (which you also probably don't remember, few televisions having been able to receive the UMF (Ultra-Mellow Frequency) signal). Originally, the show was going to be titled BEAT COP, but that name had already been registered by a (now defunct) metronome manufacturer. Nothing more is known for sure about the show, which has no remaining copies. The show had been recorded not on film or tape, but a bizarre experimental liquid recording media and stored in glass jelly jars; apparently the entire series had been drunk by some hippie seeking to get "farther out".

Fashion Troglodyte

I know what you're thinking: "Hey -- that looks like my boss! -- but he doesn't dress that well..." No, no -- it's not your boss; A while back I drew a picture of "myself" for one of those "social network" sites. Originally it was in B&W, but I just saw an episode of Love, American Style that had Rich Little dressed pretty much the same as the above troglodyte, so I added similar colors to the drawing.

Hack Horror

OK, here we have a scene from a new horror film (that I just made up) called PENCILS ( which will be followed by PENCILS II, PENCILS III, etc.). In the series, hack political cartoonist Stan "Pencils" Brewster is murdered by a cabal of corrupt politicians and businessmen who took umbrage at Brewsters depiction of them as rats feeding on the corps of Blind Justice (with everything clearly labeled). The tale revolves around Pencils' spirit returning to wreak hideous vengence upon his murderers and their moronic progeny. Unfortunately, Brewster having been a mere hack (an uncle got him the job on the paper in the first place), his methods of dispatching his enemies are rather unimaginitve and insipid, just as were his cartoons -- Oh, and when the cops find Brewster's victims, the scenes of his vengence are "composed" like an editorial cartoon, and even have his "Pencils" signature prominently displayed. Eventually, the teenage heroes of the film eventually put Pencils' spirit to rest (at least until the next sequel) using a neo-pagan ceremony involving a Pulitzer Prize and some Thomas Nast cartoons.
