It is October -- time for Halloween and monsters!
Ah,
yes, I remember back in the '60s, staying up late into the
dark hours of the morning to catch
BOUFFANTUS: The HAIR MONSTER on the
Chiller Cinema program. In this B-Flick, young rockabillier Corgy Dunlop became obsessed with "Going
further than
anybody... Further than even
Conway Twitty!" had gone with hair styles. This madness drove him into the strange world of the occult and an
unholy ceremony involving a
Dark Book of Evil, incantations,
dried squid blood, pentacles and
VO-5. The results were not
exactly what Corgy had bargained for, and there lies the hideous tale. I won't spoil the rest of it, but will mention that there were a couple of sequels,
SON OF BOUFFANTUS and
I WAS A TEENAGE BOUFFANT. There has recently been talk of a Broadway musical, but it's been put on hold until the price of hair comes down.

I like it. I think it should be your costume this year.
