The Forgotten Unforgettable

How soon we forget dept.
Remember the sitcom Meet the Potts? Few people do! Yet it ran on network TV for several seasons and had a spin-off! The show centered around the lives of a family of disembodied heads living in cookware. The main characters were Olive & Calphalon "Cal" Potts.
It really was quite popular back in the late sixties, with the catch-phrases "Put a Lid On It!" and "NOW I'm Steamed!" entering the popular vernacular, and the episode where the Potts switched from gas range to electric was the highest rated program on network TV when it aired. Cal's whimsical reprobate cousin Farber "No Stick" Fry was spun-off into his own prison comedy Stir Fried (this only lasted half a season).
The series seems to have "jumped the shark" when Robbie Rist came on board as "cousin Oliver". By the final season the plots involved "funny" alien visitors and "cool" anthropomorphic broccoli (come ON -- broccoli??), moving away from the heart warming family oriented humor that originally drew in viewers.
Sometimes the show is confused with The Potters, which was about a family of arms growing out of plant pots.

Not a great picture -- but the concept of "discount beauty" just cracks me up...

The dog pic is rather small in size -- I was in a hurry, so didn't really stop to get a closer pic. The top picture was from the middle of the Lake Street adventure (and the one under the EL traks just before the catalytic event)
