Inaction Reaction

Eventually the Government will decide that regular people getting involved in the system is just making everything a big hassle for the elites that are running the show. So to deal with this, they'll start advertising campaigns to encourage the citizens to just stay home, don't bother to vote and so on -- You know, leave it to the professionals...

But...

Perhaps there should be a support group for "nice guys" -- they could gather every month and complain about the women who prefer "bad boys" and "bums" to them. Then there could be a support group for the women who like "nice guys" but are ignored because the "nice guys" are too busy pursuing women who'll never be interested in them.

Fables

Today, I thought I'd illustrate the old fable of The Three-Legged One-Armed Crab and the Lazy Bunny. You remember that one right? With the Castles, King Arthur's Round Table and all that? No? Hmmm...

Hippy Diaspora

Was there a plot to remove the Hippies from San Francisco after the "Summer of Love"?? Did the FBI really organize and hold a fake Free Grateful Dead concert in a venue that was in fact a Colosseum sized functional toilet? Did all the concert goers get flushed directly to ramshackle communes in the South West?? Where was Billy Jack when all those Flower Children really needed him??

Awful Joe

With some high-priced fancy coffee cafe on seemingly every corner these days, perhaps it's for something different -- why not start a chain of java shops that sell cheap, terrible dreck? Why spend a lot of money to get that caffeine jolt every morning? Not only could people save big bucks, but they'd also take a certain pride in their ability to down the noxious brew. AWFUL JOE, that's what the place could be called. I can imagine TV commercials with customers bragging about how they've just had the worst cup of coffee in the world AND got change back from their dollar. Maybe the could sell stale pastries too. Yeah, AWFUL JOE -- think about it!

Pedestrian Quandary

Just started scribbling with the pencil here, with a little digital clean-up.

Perhaps it's two in the morning, you're standing on the corner and the traffic light is red -- there is no traffic -- do you follow the rules and wait for the light to change green?

Eye of the Clown

Starting today, I'll post a new drawing, cartoon, imbecilic scribbling or whatever I can fit onto a yellow "sticky note" (the 1.5" x 2" variety) every day this month.
Here we have the first:
Marvelously grotesque! I will call this Polyphemus the Clown. Perhaps he's smiling because he has just dined on some fine Greek cuisine?

Ejikatin'

We hope for a Utopian education system with kind, supportive and understanding teachers. Teachers who will guide children to some psychologically unblemished intellectual Nirvana. In reality, we do have some psychotic sadists out there who seem to take pleasure in making students miserable, tarnishing young minds with their special brand of insanity; filling days with humiliation and embarrassment; supplying traumatic memories that we get to revisit, over and over in our darkest nightmares.

But is this a bad thing? Once we reach adulthood, one of the greatest pleasures we have is to share tales of hideous school days with our friends and cohorts -- laughing at the ridiculousness of our lives!

Here's to you awful teachers! I salute you (as, I assume, you eternally rot in the lowest dungeon of hades...)!!

Eye Cloth

The other day, I had a dream that had something like this in it...
A floating cloth tube with a worried eye. Now, what could that mean? Will I use a sock to clean my glasses in the future??

While in Transit

I drew this while on the Metra train home
I imagine the fellow may be saying something like "Someone just told me life is like a big Yo-Yo, but I always thought it was more like a paddle-ball..."

Clownhorse

Haven't posted a disturbing clown drawing in a while. How about this?

Is that disturbing? I don't know -- Clownhorse -- It sounds kind of disturbing. Perhaps it marks the point where Dr. Moreau just took thing too far...

Lines

Was just scribbling. Perhaps this could be a joke carved into some ancient obelisk -- yeah there could be a really great line in there somewhere.

Way Past Clunky

We always see robots from the future coming back to our time for various missions (typically either to save or destroy the human race) -- I usually run across at least two such robots a week while I'm doing my job downtown ( Easy to spot -- They're the only "people" who look like movie stars).

Well, anyway, why not have some clunky robot from the past travel forward to the present?

Social Facade

To build our place in society, we create an illusion of who we are that we present to our friends, associates, co-workers etc. -- in many cases, different faces to different groups. Would society be improved if the absolute truth about each of us was known to everybody? Or is society built on what we all pretend to be, and would crumble without the multitude of carefully maintained lies?

Hack Track

On Friday, I was at the downtown Metra station, and figured it would be a good idea to add some cash to my CTA card, just in case I need to use a bus or Rapid Transit train. Just ahead of me at the CTA fare card machine, there was a rather scuzzy looking individual who, while stuffing bills in the pay slot, was literally coughing up a lung all over the machine (though he did seem to give special attention to the money slot). I got the impression that covering his mouth or redirecting his germs to a less public area were ideas completely alien to him.

I left the station without using (or getting near) the fare card machine.

Heavy Rolling

I often see heavy equipment rolling along with yellow & black diagonal stripe markings on various parts. Made me think about a machine that's only function was to be diagonal stripes.
Now that I'm thinking about heavy and rolling, my mind naturally veers off the tracks and thinks of Rock & Roll. And Rolls -- how about a bakery clearance shop called Rock Hard Rolls? Just a thought

Doodles On A Train

While sitting on the Metra train, drew these. Usually I would use a fine or Ultra-fine marker, but these were done using a gel pen.
