Dreams that Sting, Sharp Memories

Some years back drew a little picture of a "Bee-Monkey" creature; Thought I should use it in a cartoon in some way... combined it with some other doodles and came up with nice depressing (well, it can be amusing too...) bit of business...

Here are some objects from around the house:

This is a bank from a long gone bank

Bought this pencil sharpener in the summer of 1979. Doesn't seem like a long time ago, but the art supply store I bought it at is long gone. I remember going to all sorts of art and stationary stores back then -- just about all those stores closed down years ago, and in some cases the buildings are not even there anymore.

Apply All that is Applicable

Another visit to Grodius Inc, where we find there are those who would eagerly apply for a job anywhere, and those worry about losing whatever job they may have...

Make Bread From The Cause, Curving Escape

The above cartoon is of a fellow who felt he had the right look to make a living selling himself as the Face Of Revolution. Any revolutionaries who needed an inspirational "every man" looking martyr for their cause could purchase the right to use his face on their posters, T-Shirts, coffee mugs and what-have-you.

Here's a building at 28 n. Clark. Not just interesting on the street side, but back in the alley, too!
Though for all practical purposes this in an alley, it does have name, "Calhoun Pl" which runs several blocks downtown. I was fascinated by the curving fire escape.

Unpleasant Supervision, Electric Fruit

Here's a little cartoon inspired by the type of person who makes going to work just plain miserable. Oddly enough, this type believes they're making a workplace more productive and efficient, but are in fact having the opposite effect.

Well, while we've broached the subject of wired fruit, Here's a little drawing of one of those portable transistorized lemons from back in the Sixties... Remember those?

Battlin' Grease Monkey, Future Nostalgia

Been doodlin' up various street urchin types for use in a little cartoon to (hopefully) appear here soon. This feller looks a little too old for that (a former Street "Oychin" perhaps).
So what shall we make of him?? -- Ah, I know.... I'll call him Davey Sparks, and he can be:
A membah of J. Edguh's Grease-Monkey G-Squad, utilizin' his "ahtomobile smahts" tuh battle crime 'n' commies!

Here's something I dug up in a box:
It's a later entry in a comic strip I started back in 1981, I think. Original called ZIP YARMY, Later ZAP YARMY, and in this incarnation OTTO EVEN. the characters at this point were a couple of janitors in a Space Navy. This particular entry harks back to a time that does seem rather nostalgic.

Blob Songs, Crane Rain

A little birthday card I did for a friend of mine:
Really, what can be better on your birthday than to be serenaded by some slimey primordial alien beastie playing a fretless something-or-other?

These pics were taken December 21st, 2006. Cold and rainy, it was.

Random Self Improvement

Something I put on canvas (so this is a photo instead of a scan). It was a lot larger than I typically draw - I thought it would be interesting to do something bigger than a Post-It note.

Darwin's VCR, Psychedelic Scrapbook

Another doodle. Of course you are wondering what the expression can possible mean. Well it really can mean only one thing: "Ooops -- I forgot to set the VCR to record MATLOCK...!"
Quite obvious, really.
Interesting: it took billions of years of evolution for Nature to develop a creature with the control of particular facial muscles that could express the "Forgot to Set the VCR for Matlock" look, yet the window of utilization for this very specific expression was very small, what with the invention of Tivo and all...
